Come Birdwatch at Jacob Lake

Jacob Lake Inn is a great place to base your birding adventure. Within 20 miles any direction you can drastically change elevation and climate, which creates great opportunities to see a variety of different birds. Jacob Lake Inn is located within 15 miles of the release site viewpoint for the California Condor Restoration Project in House Rock Valley, and just 45 miles away from the Colorado River at Lee’s Ferry.

The Birds You Can See

The North Kaibab Ranger District has provided this partial list of bird species that can be seen in and around the Kaibab National Forest:

Great blue heron, ducks, turkey vulture, hawks, American kestrel, peregrine falcon, grouse, quail, chukar, turkey, coot, killdeer, sandpiper, phalarope, band-tailed pigeon, mourning dove, owls, goatsuckers, swifts, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, flycatchers, peewees, larks, swallows, crows, jays, titmice, bushtits, nuthatches, brown creeper, wrens, thrushes (robin & bluebird), gnatcatchers, cedar waxwing, starling, vireos, warblers, house sparrow, meadowlark, black-birds, western tanager, grosbeaks, finches, sparrows.
