Jacob Lake Bakery

Baking fresh breads, pies, rolls, and cakes is a tradition from our earliest days, all part of country life when Jacob Lake Inn began in 1923. We simply kept on baking from scratch when the world went to industrial products.

Our family recipes for cookies, sweet rolls, brownies and the rest have been favorites since the first day. We have a delicious variety of cookies. Some are a little unusual. Try a lemon-zucchini cookie (they're yummy, honest!) or a German chocolate cookie with coconut, or even the Belgian chocolate filled Parfait cookie. The secret is that they're made from the best of everything the recipe calls for, in generous amounts.

If you don't have much of a sweet tooth try one of our healthy cookie options or some of our home-made Jacob Lake bread. Take with you some of our buttery rolls that are served with soup, salads, and meals in our restaurant. Our neighbors and friends told us we should go into business with our bakery recipes and we hope you will stop by and taste why.

Enjoy delicious meals and great service in the comfortable, inviting atmosphere of our lunch counter and Dining Room. Begin your day by tasting our homemade whole wheat and buttermilk pancakes made from scratch daily or one of our egg plate combinations.

Come back for lunch and taste our "Grand Bull Sandwich" - quite possibly the best hamburger west of the Mississippi. If 1/3rd lb. of beef smothered in delicious toppings is too much, order our Cranberry Cream Cheese Chicken Sandwich (an employee favorite) or our Grilled Chicken Salad topped with seasonal fruit and our homemade Orange Basil Dressing.

At the end of a day of sightseeing be sure to come back for dinner. We suggest our house specialty the Kaibab Jagerschnitzel with a taste as unique and distinct as the name.

The walls of the dining room serve as a gallery for our collection of museum quality Navajo weaving's, Sandpaintings, fine art and framed prints of local and renowned artists. Be sure to ask your server about the different art pieces on the wall or browse the information books found at each table."

This is the classic Toll House chocolate chip cookie. This is one of our most popular cookies. Choose one with walnuts or plain.

Chocolate Parfait

A buttery cookie loaded with Guittard milk chocolate chunks, this cookie has a fan following.

Peanut Butter and Peanut Butter w/chocolate chips

A buttery peanut butter cookie, with or without semi sweet chocolate chips.

Fudge Brownies

These made-from-scratch fudge brownies are slathered with chocolate frosting- a chocolate lover’s dream. Try one with milk or have one as a sundae piled with vanilla or chocolate soft serve ice cream.

Sweet rolls

Brushed with butter and sprinkled with cinnamon and Brown Sugar, these gooey buns come plain or with walnuts and raisins. We cover them with a thick coat of homemade cream cheese frosting.

Turnovers

Apple, Cherry, or Blueberry. Encased in a sweet and flaky pastry crust, our apple, cherry, and blueberry turnovers are made with the same spiced fruit filling as the pies and are drizzled with our homemade cream cheese frosting.

Homemade Pies

Apple, Blueberry, Cherry, or Peach. Each of our pies is filled with spiced fruit filling, surrounded by our flaky homemade crust. Apple, Cherry, Peach, and Blueberry by the slice or whole pie is a sweet treat after a great meal. Try it ala mode or with whipped cream. Watch for our specialty pies like homemade Toll House, banana, or coconut cream.

Blueberry and Bran Muffins

A blueberry muffin topped with brown sugar streusel or our homemade bran muffins with raisins and walnuts are an excellent light breakfast.

Homemade White and Wheat Bread

Jacob Lake Inn Bakery makes homemade honey whole wheat and white bread everyday. Our wheat bread is made from whole wheat flour ground here on the premises daily. Smaller loaves of the white bread can be purchased at the store along with bread ends, which are the trimmings of the bread we use for sandwiches and French toast in our restaurant.

Baked fresh every morning, our homemade dinner rolls are buttery and soft and accompany all our dinner selections in the dining room.

Deli Sandwiches

Ham and Cheese, Turkey and Cheese or Tuna Salad- In a hurry to get to get to your next destination? Grab one of our fresh Deli Sandwiches. Made from deli sliced turkey or ham or our tuna salad (made with celery, applesand sweet pickle relish)and swiss or cheddar cheese on a homemade bun. A deli sandwich, drink, fruit and a cookie will get you on your way in a hurry.
