We're Back in Business!
If you have been following the news or our Facebook page, our business was under threat from the Mangum Fire. We evacuated Jacob Lake on Friday, July 12th, and thanks to the generosity of many of our Jacob Lake family and friends, we found temporary shelter in nearby Kanab, Utah, at the Kanab Middle School, and then at Parry Lodge. During this time, we were overwhelmed with an abundance of love and support from the people of Kanab and Fredonia who brought us food, cots to sleeps on, and comforting words and prayers. Thankfully, the Mangum Fire that consumed over 70,000 acres of forest barely missed us, largely due to the heroic efforts of the firefighters, and perhaps some luck and divine intervention.
Hotel Rooms Available
We are officially back in business but not at full capacity. Our cabins and motel rooms are currently unavailable due to ongoing restoration efforts, but our hotel rooms are now operating and we are taking reservations. "Stage 2 fire restrictions will remain in effect for all of Grand Canyon National Park which includes no campfires, charcoal, or wood-fueled flames. Gasoline or propane stoves remain allowed if operated in an area clear of vegetation. Smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material."
